ABOUT

The Phaser Game Jam is an educational competition designed specifically for high school students in technological fields. This innovative event is structured in two key phases: a comprehensive training program followed by an exciting game jam competition. The event is organized by I.I.S. Margherita Hack in collaboration with HackFarm E.T.S.

During the training phase, participating students attend a 60-hour online course that covers the fundamentals of video game development using TypeScript programming and the PhaserJs game development framework. This year's program has seen remarkable participation, with 27 schools from across all provinces of Campania involved, engaging 1,300 students and 100 tutors and coordinators.

Upon completion of the training course, the top-performing students from each institution advance to the final competition phase: the game jam itself. This intense challenge unfolds over two days. On the first day, students focus entirely on completing their game development projects. The second day is dedicated to presentations, where teams showcase their creations to a panel of industry experts.

Games are evaluated across multiple dimensions including graphics, sound design, gameplay experience, thematic relevance, and presentation quality. To inspire creativity, the game jam theme is revealed several weeks before the competition. This year's theme was "Chaos."

Excellence is rewarded with significant prizes for the top six teams, ranging from €1,000 for first place to €100 for sixth place, with intermediate prizes of €500, €400, €300, and €200 for the respective placements.
